J. P. Cornelius Elementary is an exemplary magnet school for young talent in the areas of science, math, and technology, located in southeast Houston. The school’s science program provides valuable science concepts and skills that will help students live and work in our technological society. The math program features an online instructional math program that is targeted to the needs of each individual student.

The mission of J. P. Cornelius Elementary School is to make a strong, positive contribution to the social and economic foundation of Houston.

To this end, Cornelius Elementary School will incorporate the HISD core values and strategic management principles into practice, thereby ensuring that all students are empowered with the knowledge, attitudes, skills, and habits to become lifelong learners, and successful productive workers.  Our school motto is “Making Tracks for the Future.”
